Send 800 Postcards On Postcrossing!

Check it out!! 802, didn't even realize on time! Haha. This was one of my easier goals to complete but it still feels good to have this milestone. As you can see I'm kind of behind on sending, and there are so many to write! Ah. Heheh. Well, Yay!

Learn To Live Instead Of Exist...

This is (hopefully) going to be an ongoing post that I add to every time I do something that I feel is worthy of 'living':

4/3/2011

Went to Baltimore with Charlotte to eat at Holy Frijoles (which was delicious) and then we couldn't decide what to do. So I looked into the "bag of fun" I brought (in addition to my purse) and pulled out my camera, some blank labels, and a few markers. We stopped on the side of Centre St. by Walter's Art Gallery and made our labels:

Then we went out stickering!

We found some interesting things along the way:

Glad I did it. <3

Play In The Rain

The best part of accomplishing this goal was that it was spontaneous and I had, in the moment, forgotten that it was on my list. Went out to Sushi in the city with Charlotte, Katie, Andrew, Helen, and Nick and on the drive home we jammed out to random radio songs including "Get Low"...yes.

By the time we got home it was raining and I went to get in my car to go home. "Firework" was playing on the radio in both our cars so I put my car back into park and jumped out of the car to dance with Charlotte and Katie in the rain.

Baby you're a firework

Come on let your colors burst
make em go OH OH OH

show em what you're worth!

Perfect. <3

List Three Things That Make Me Happy Every Day (for 6 months straight)

Happy Journal

This is the Happy Journal that I've been writing in since January 1st, 2011. I write at least 3 things in it for each day of the week that made me happy. I am allowing myself to back-log it so far, in case I miss a day. But it's harder to remember the little things once it's the next day. I made a sign for myself that I taped to my nightstand that says WRITE IN HAPPY JOURNAL. I hope it works!

I'm going to try to go longer than 6 months. I also cannot wait to go back and read through it all!

Send More Mail-Art (365 Days Of Mail-Art Project)

This is obviously a work in progress and it will not be finished in time for my deadline of January 1st, 2012 but it will (hopefully) be completed a year from when it was started which was January 19th (2011). You can view the pieces I'm making as I post them on the mail-art-365 blog! The link is for my work specifically. Here's an example of what I've made so far... I hope to improve by the time the year is over. :-)

Telephone PC sent to RileyS on Send-Something :-)

Get Fuchsia Highlights!

I went to Bubbles on 12/28/10 and got fuchsia highlights! (And a haircut.) It was less expensive than I thought (only $60 for highlights). Here's a picture of the back of my head:

Here's a picture of the front on my webcam, but the color barely came out:

Either way I am very happy with it.

Go 24 Hours Without Technology

So from Friday at 10:30PM till Saturday at 10:30PM I went without computer/internet, cell phone, land line phones, GPS, TV, video games, CD's, cassettes, radio of any kind, etc.

It was pretty easy for the first 20 hours but around 6:30PM on Saturday I started yearning for the internet.
I don't think it would have been a problem though if I had kept super busy and not been at home.
It's really interesting though about how much we are dependent on technology. I have to write an essay about it for my MCS class because it was actually his push to do it for the assignment that made me do it this weekend. I probably would have procrastinated on it otherwise.

It wasn't as hard as I thought it would have been overall though. :-)

Not Break My Phone Or Camera

I actually upgraded both my camera AND my phone from the time that this list was created and my 22nd birthday. But none of the 4 electronic items broke ever! :)

Find A Pair Of Sunglasses That Don't Make My Face Look Ridiculous

Caylee sent these to me for my goal:

I'm pretty sure that it counts because they are SO ridiculous that I LOOK GOOD. :)

See A Broadway Show

Katie and I drove to Wolftrap in Virginia to see Cats! It was super hot out but we managed through the entire show and drank lots of water/cooled ourselves with baggies of ice! :)
The show was really great. I admire people like those actors.

Secret Agent L Mission

Mission: Snail Mail Kit
Date: 06/18/2010
Time: Approximately 11:30 AM

So I wanted to do something for a mission that was related to something that I love so I decided to do something with (snail) mail. I created a small starter package (which technically cost me nothing but the cost of the stamps because I used things from my own stash) for writing snail mail. I included a letter which explained this and the contents included postcards, a pen, envelopes, a note card, some stationery, and some seals.

The way that this was kept anonymous is that I went to my PO Box, and selected the neighbor to my right,

wrote their address on an envelope (without a return address)

and plopped it in the mail box outside the post office.

It felt really good to know that someone is going to open their PO Box and find something from a stranger. RAOK YOU MAKE MY DAY!

Cook Dinner

I (mostly) cooked dinner at Katie's house!

Me cooking:

The sandwiches!

The mushrooms and onions:

The french fries:

A fairly simple meal, but it's a start. I need to start learning how to cook!

Make Tuesday Shirts!

Tuesday is the project/way of thinking that April Noga created (my pen-pal). I have wanted to make shirts to commemorate this idea/project for a long time and today I finally did! Check em out!

Overtip A Waiter or Waitress for Exceptional Service

While we were at Chuck E Cheese, the waiters were really nice. I called the guy by his name that was printed on the receipt (Kevin) over to our table and told him if he got me a drink I'd tip him. So he got me a Mr. Pibb, no ice and I gave him $15!! :-)

I think I made his day.

Use The Rest Of My Chuck E Cheese Tokens

I went with Katie, Andrew, and Andrew's little brother Matthew to Chuck E Cheese last night. Not only did I use the 13 remaining coupons from 2 years ago, but I received 25 more and used all those too! I got some awesome picture cards and here is a picture of my playing the famous bumble bee game!

Honk If You're Happy

Katie and I held up "HONK IF YOU'RE HAPPY!" and "IF YOU'RE HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT HONK YOUR HORN" signs on her busy street corner yesterday. It's becoming crunch time with my birthday being on Monday and I want to get as much crossed off this list as possible.

Anyway, there were 100 cars that we counted in the short time we were out there going by. And only 35 of them honked! One guy had his window rolled down, looked at my sign, and said "I'm not..." and drove away. Funny but so sad!

So fun.
